Job Overview
Wood is seeking expressions of interest for an Offshore Project Director position based in Qatar. The role focuses on delivering excellence across assigned complex projects or portfolios, ensuring firm control over project scope, schedules, costs, and risk management while fostering confidence with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee P&L with full commercial and financial accountability including revenue targets, margin and overhead management, budgeting, forecasting, risk/opportunity assessment, cost control, billing, and cash flow.
- Develop and review project proposals and plans establishing timelines, resource needs, and procedures, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and standards.
- Manage changes to project scope through formal change management processes, negotiating with clients as necessary.
- Identify and implement innovative approaches such as digital technologies, work share, and engineering centers to add value to projects.
- Approve project execution plans including scope, deliverables, schedules, budgets, organizational charts, and risk registers.
- Ensure project team competence to effectively perform assigned tasks.
- Supervise project proposals and contract call-offs within delegated authority, adhering to contracting policies and ethical standards.
- Monitor project progress for schedule, cost, and quality adherence, intervening proactively to mitigate issues.
- Implement project management software and ensure adequate training for project staff.
- Establish project assurance protocols and schedules, and participate in assurance activities and peer reviews.
- Lead HSSE initiatives, audit programs, and quality management to maintain safety and compliance standards.
- Facilitate corporate best practices and continuous improvement across projects and programs.
- Resolve escalated complex issues and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including clients, contractors, government officials, and local communities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering.
- Preferred certification: Project Management Professional (PMP), Associate in Project Management (APM), or equivalent.
- Over 20 years of broad relevant experience, with at least 10 years in project management handling complex and major international or remote projects.
- Strong technical knowledge related to project scopes.
- Solid experience in relevant industries and geographic locations.
- Expertise in stakeholder management with the ability to coach others and manage challenging relationships.
- Comprehensive understanding of requirements management, linking project requirements to business benefits.
- Proficient in workflow management, engineering ownership policies, globalization of projects, and tender processes.
- Experience managing multi-phase budgets including risk contingencies and commercial acquisition strategies.
- Advanced skills in risk management, vendor contract negotiation, and project execution planning.
- Ability to lead project performance improvements and effectively manage resources.
- Competent in cash flow and cost projection management, commercial and technical risk management.
