Production Systems Engineer

About the Role

Meta is looking for a Production Systems Engineer to join the Release to Production team, responsible for overseeing the entire Hardware Lifecycle of Meta's servers from development to maintaining production health. This team ensures the global infrastructure operates seamlessly in coordination with various teams including Production Engineering, Networking, Hardware Designers, Manufacturers, and Datacenter Operations. Engineers tackle issues ranging from microscopic CPU register-level errors to large-scale deployments across millions of servers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement tooling to automate critical business processes that support the maintenance of Meta's production server fleet.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and determine root causes of system failures while collaborating closely with stakeholders to execute effective solutions.
• Constantly seek improvements for hardware, tooling, and processes to enhance overall system reliability.
• Develop expertise in specialist domains such as Firmware Deployment, Edge/CDN hardware, or Diagnostic Testing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of programming experience in high-level languages like Python, PHP, Java, Go, Rust, or C++.
• Proven experience in building, maintaining, and debugging live production services or platforms, usually in Linux/Unix environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of server architecture and components across Compute, Storage, AI Systems, and Networking.
• Methodical, scientific approach to troubleshooting, analyzing root causes, and investigative problem solving.
• Effective communication skills demonstrated through clear, concise reports for diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to collaborate successfully across organizational boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with configuration management or infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform.
• Experience managing extensive systems fleets across multiple data centers.
