Senior Software Engineer, Optimization and Mathematical Modelling

About the Role

Qamia develops a platform that transforms historical enterprise data alongside defined problems into mathematical models, solved using an agentic framework incorporating classical and hybrid quantum-classical optimization techniques. The platform serves diverse industries such as telecommunications, aviation, and energy sectors.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for managing projects from conceptualization through to deployment, interfacing with client engineering teams and company founders. Your role spans transforming business challenges into precise mathematical formulations, developing and optimizing high-performance solvers, as well as delivering robust backend services for the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate customer business challenges into mathematical formulations and select appropriate solution methods.
• Design, develop, and refine high-efficiency optimization solvers.
• Create and maintain backend services supporting the platform functionalities.
• Validate the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated models.
• Deploy and provide ongoing support for the platform within customer infrastructure, including on-premises environments.

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related quantitative disciplines; alternatively, a Master's degree with over five years of relevant industry experience.
• At least three years of hands-on experience developing and managing production-level backend systems.
• Proven expertise in formulating and solving complex large-scale combinatorial optimization problems.
• Proficiency in programming languages C++ and Python.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with advanced optimization solvers, such as Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools, or HiGHS, including decomposition techniques.
• Knowledge of metaheuristics, GPU-accelerated optimization approaches.
• Familiarity with stochastic or robust optimization methodologies.
• Experience working with distributed computing, Kubernetes orchestration, and major cloud platforms.
• Background in creating LLM-based intelligent agents or tool-calling systems.
• Understanding of quantum computing principles and hybrid classical-quantum solver frameworks.
• Strong communication skills for interactions with both technical teams and executive leadership. Arabic language skills are an advantage.
