Position Summary

The Engineering team is looking for a Principal Engineer to spearhead complex, cross-platform projects and technical initiatives across global teams. The role demands a mix of deep domain knowledge and exceptional technical leadership. As a senior technical leader, the Principal Engineer will guide organizational strategy, partner with leadership, and prioritize impactful initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead cross-team collaboration and guide decisions aligning with strategic departmental objectives.
• Prevent duplication by leveraging and enhancing existing assets for broader use.
• Mentor colleagues and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Participate in resource planning, defining project scopes, and success metrics for major engineering efforts.
• Balance immediate project demands with long-term planning.
• Resolve complex technical challenges across Harness products.
• Communicate progress and plans with senior engineering leadership and executives.
• Drive innovation across product and service portfolios through proposals and optimizations.
• Align sub-team objectives with overall engineering goals.
• Address team escalations, eliminate blockers, and facilitate effective solutions.
• Represent projects to external customers, partners, and stakeholders.
• Serve as the subject matter expert within assigned domains.

Qualifications and Experience

• Over 12 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Hands-on expertise in modern software delivery and building large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in advanced Java, Golang, or comparable programming languages.
• Extensive experience with distributed systems architecture.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

Work Location

This hybrid role requires attendance at the Bangalore office three days per week.
