Principal Consultant - Snowflake

About the Role

The Principal Consultant position involves leading technical delivery and crafting client solutions that drive business results and support pre-sales activities. You'll design, implement, and oversee robust Data Platform solutions and full project components, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills. Working closely with practice leaders, project managers, and client teams, you’ll contribute to a forward-thinking Data and AI group focused on advanced technology solutions within Datacom’s Professional Services division.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with sales and account teams to develop proposals and solution designs during pre-sales.
• Lead client-facing presentations to demonstrate value and differentiate offerings.
• Spot and pursue opportunities to upsell and broaden services within existing client relationships.
• Organize and conduct stakeholder workshops to understand business requirements.
• Direct the architecture, design, and deployment of modern data platform solutions.
• Offer strategic advice and leadership on data analytics, integration, and AI application within platforms.
• Perform performance optimization and feature assessments on data platforms.
• Produce comprehensive documentation, user training, and knowledge transfer for clients and internal teams.
• Mentor developers, serving as a subject matter expert on data platform architecture and modelling.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience designing and implementing Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW).
• Minimum of 8 years in ETL architecture and design.
• 8+ years expertise in data modelling including conceptual, logical, and physical models using ER, dimensional, object-oriented, NoSQL, and Data Vault techniques.
• 5+ years of experience developing semantic layers.
• 3+ years working with Power BI architecture.
• 3+ years experience in pre-sales solution development, commercial proposals, and client presentations.
• Advanced experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Expertise in data platforms including Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks.
• Advanced ETL/ELT process design and implementation skills with tools like Synapse Analytics, Fabric Data Factory, Snowflake, Coalesce, Fivetran, Matillion, dbt, and AWS Glue.
• Proficient Python development in modern data platform environments.
• Experience with Informatica IDMC or on-premises solutions.
• Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and align tech solutions to business objectives.

Additional Information

• Position based in Wellington preferred but open to other Datacom offices.
• Hybrid work arrangement with three days per week in the office.
• New Zealand Citizens or Residents only; security clearances are desirable.
