Job description

Overview

The Pricing Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate pricing integrity within the store by managing price changes and resolving discrepancies. This position plays a key role in building customer trust and loyalty by ensuring consistent, compliant pricing practices and clear shelf labeling across all departments. The role emphasizes courteous and knowledgeable service while fostering an inclusive workplace environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Creates a welcoming atmosphere to enhance customer confidence and loyalty; regularly conducts test scans to verify pricing accuracy, product description correctness, departmental placement, and applicable taxes. Ensures shelf labels and signs are precise, and items lacking UPC codes are appropriately priced. Addresses and corrects pricing issues and file inconsistencies. (40% of time)
  • Completes daily and weekly administrative duties including communication, online training, and price file updates. Inspects shelf labels and takes corrective action when discrepancies arise. Assists with organizing inventory processes. Monitors product temperatures to comply with food safety standards and maintains temperature logs as required. (30% of time)
  • Promotes a culture of trust and teamwork by sharing information and fostering collaboration with store and department management. Coordinates store-wide price changes to maintain pricing consistency. Complies with all relevant legal and company regulations. (15% of time)
  • Ensures all safety and compliance protocols are observed, including proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity standards. Adheres to USDA, COOL, and DOA regulations. Manages product recalls and withdrawals promptly and ensures safe removal from customer areas. Identifies, reports, and assists in remediation of safety hazards. Maintains compliance with wage and hour policies and facilitates safety training and equipment use. (15% of time)

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years and eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal, motivational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications for department operations.
  • Supervisory experience of 3-6 years preferred.
  • Preferred educational qualification: High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to understand spoken and written English is required; Spanish language skills are advantageous.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Regularly requires standing, walking on various flooring, repetitive motions, manual dexterity, speaking, hearing, seeing, smelling.
  • Physical abilities include reaching at waist or overhead levels, carrying, pushing, lifting loads up to 50 lbs (lifting requirement) and pulling loads up to 250 lbs.
  • Sometimes involves sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up to 30 feet.
  • Exposure to various indoor and outdoor conditions including cold, heat, wet, humid environments.
  • Safety risks include working on slippery or cluttered floors, hazardous equipment, sharp objects, loud noises, irritants, dust, fumes, cleaning chemicals.
  • Uses cleaning supplies and equipment, general office devices, register, pricing gun, scales, scanners, and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and carts. May use balers, box cutters.
  • Personal protective gear includes goggles, gloves, back brace.

Travel

Occasional travel is required, but no overnight stays.
