Overview

The Floor Care Associate is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary environments throughout the store including floors, restrooms, offices, and breakrooms. This role supports customer satisfaction by ensuring all areas are orderly and hazards are minimized. The position also values diversity and fosters an inclusive workplace culture.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety across sales floors, liquor stores, offices, breakrooms, backrooms, and training rooms, with a focus on restrooms (70% of time).
  • Use floor care machines, tools, and chemicals to sweep, vacuum mats and rugs, remove carpet spots, and perform deep restroom cleaning.
  • Create a welcoming environment that helps build customer confidence and loyalty by being courteous and offering assistance with product location or suggestions (15% of time).
  • Ensure all company safety standards, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity requirements are consistently met (15% of time).
  • Comply with regulatory standards including USDA, Country of Origin Labeling, and Department of Agriculture requirements.
  • Execute product recalls and withdrawals promptly, securing affected items from customer access.
  • Promote and comply with safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, accidents, illegal activities, and ensure adherence to wage and hour policies.
  • Support and cultivate a culture of safety by guaranteeing associates receive training, proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use, and equipment is maintained in good condition.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication abilities.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Preferred bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
  • 0-3 years of experience; supervisory experience advantageous.

Environmental Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Work involves standing, walking, manual dexterity, and repetitive hand/foot movements.
  • Frequently required to reach overhead or waist level, carry, push, or lift loads up to specified weights (lifting up to 50 lbs, pulling up to 250 lbs).
  • Occasional activities include sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up to 30 feet.
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments including cold, heated, humid, or wet conditions.
  • Safety risks include working on slippery or cluttered floors, use of hazardous equipment, and handling irritants such as chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Use of PPE such as goggles, gloves, and back braces required.
  • Equipment used includes cleaning supplies, office equipment, registers, pricing guns, scanners, material handling tools (racks, carts, pallet jacks), and potentially balers or box cutters.

Work Schedule and Travel

  • Work shifts vary and may be scheduled accordingly.
  • Travel is occasional but no overnight stays are required.
