Role Summary
In the role of Payroll Officer within Serco’s Payroll Services Team, you will be integral to the end-to-end payroll delivery across various contracts under Serco’s ASPAC Shared Service model. Your responsibilities include maintaining and updating HR and payroll master data, assisting the Payroll Specialist with administration and operational tasks, and addressing payroll queries from employees, managers, and People & Culture teams. Your efforts will ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely execution across diverse awards, employment types, and jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage payroll activities through all employee lifecycle events including onboarding, payroll changes, and terminations.
- Ensure accuracy of payroll and HR data such as allowances, deductions, superannuation, and tax changes.
- Provide prompt, customer-oriented responses to payroll inquiries from employees, managers, and P&C teams.
- Prepare pay run documentation including reports, adjustments, and off-cycle payments to facilitate precise and punctual payroll processing.
- Detect and resolve discrepancies in payroll data or timesheets, escalating as necessary.
- Support process improvements and keep detailed service records and payroll procedures up to date.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- At least one year of experience in payroll or payroll administration, preferably within a shared services environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong dedication to producing accurate and high-quality output.
- Ability to follow prescribed procedures while utilizing initiative to address problems independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, confident in handling queries from staff and management.
- Capability to prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain composure during busy payroll cycles.
- Collaborative mindset with an eagerness to quickly master new systems and workflows.
- Desirable experience includes familiarity with SAP and ServiceNow platforms, and proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
