About the Role

Join Serco’s Justice and Immigration Facilities Management team at HMP Fosse Way as a full-time Electrician Grade 1. This permanent position, based in Leicester, England, runs Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:30 and offers a salary of £38,971 per annum plus a comprehensive benefits package. In this role, you will be essential in ensuring electrical systems are safely maintained and compliant within a secure setting, directly supporting crucial services that affect communities daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve faults and defects in electrical machinery and equipment.
• Implement planned preventative maintenance programs to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
• Install and commission electrical plants and apparatus as needed.
• Interpret and apply technical drawings and wiring schematics accurately.
• Assist with investigations into equipment functionality and furnish improvement recommendations.
• Keep precise records of inspections, maintenance work, and tool usage.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess recognized electrical qualifications, including City and Guilds certification.
• Successfully completed a formal electrical apprenticeship.
• Hold BS7671 certification in line with current IEE regulations.
• Have a minimum of five years of post-apprenticeship experience in a relevant electrical role.
• Exhibit strong independent problem-solving capabilities suitable for work in secure environments.
• Participate effectively in a facilities on-call out-of-hours roster as part of the team.

Security and Health Checks

An Enhanced Level 1 background check is mandatory, examining spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and other pertinent policing records, following the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding protocols. An Occupational Health Questionnaire must also be completed to ensure necessary support is provided to succeed.
