About the Role

Join Serco as a Correctional Case Officer where you will oversee, support, and manage inmates in a secure, respectful environment focused on rehabilitation and reintegration. This role is based at Clarence Correctional Centre and requires maintaining safety and structured supervision to help inmates prepare for life beyond incarceration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and supervise inmates to promote their rehabilitation and safe reintegration into society
  • Conduct thorough searches and observe inmate activities to uphold security and order
  • Utilize communication and problem-solving skills to calmly defuse conflicts and preserve peace
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the welfare of inmates

Candidate Profile

  • Open to candidates without prior experience; full training will be provided
  • Possess strong communication abilities, empathy, and resilience
  • Maintain composure under pressure and make sound judgments in challenging situations
  • Meet physical fitness requirements necessary for the role
  • Hold a valid Driver's Licence
  • Willing to complete the fully funded Certificate III in Correctional Practice while working

Additional Information

  • Annual earnings typically start at $75,077 plus superannuation, with opportunities to exceed $95,000 plus superannuation
  • Hourly rates increase progressively upon attaining Correctional Officer Levels 2 and 3
