Painter Prepper

Job Summary

The Painter Prepper is responsible for preparing equipment surfaces for the painting process by performing sealing, masking, sanding, and other surface preparation tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate sealing machinery or use fillers to repair holes, dents, and seams on equipment.
• File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using both hand and power tools to achieve smooth finishes.
• Apply masking tape and coverings on surfaces to protect areas not being painted.
• Mix, blend, and match paint colors accurately to ensure consistency.
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces utilizing brushes or spray gun techniques.
• Track usage of parts and materials, reporting any supply issues promptly.
• Assist in procurement and ordering of replacement tools, parts, and materials when necessary.
• Work cooperatively within a team environment with minimal supervision required.
• Adhere strictly to Silent-Aire Limited Partnership's safety guidelines and comply with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
• Carry out additional duties as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications and Skills

• Completion of relevant post-secondary vocational, technical, or college training is beneficial.
• Experience with sheet metal work is considered a valuable asset.
• Prior experience specifically in autobody preparation is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints is a plus.
• Physical capability to lift and carry materials up to 35 pounds.
• Must be able to distinguish colors accurately.

Working Conditions

• Working within a commercial or industrial setting.
• Manual dexterity needed to handle various tools efficiently.
• Be aware of and exercise caution around naturally occurring hazards in the work environment.
• Consistent use of personal protective equipment as per safety protocols.
• Prolonged periods of standing are expected.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.

Communication

Primary communication is internal, involving coordination with the assigned team, team leads, supervisors, and manufacturing operations management.
