Job description

About the Institution and Department

Join a nationally NABH-accredited 500-bed teaching hospital renowned in the North East region, offering extensive general and super speciality medical services around the clock. The medical institution is linked academically with a leading university and features a dedicated 500-bed super specialty facility. Within this prestigious setup, the Department of Neurosurgery delivers specialized care for brain, spine, and nervous system disorders, supported by a comprehensive multi-specialty Intensive Care complex including a Neuro-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU). The department employs cutting-edge imaging technology, including MRI 1.5 Tesla, Spiral CT Scan, and 64-slice CT, to support thorough patient diagnosis and treatment.

Position Overview and Qualifications

This role is for a clinical consultant specializing in neurosurgery. While the hospital functions as a teaching institution, teaching experience or academic credentials are not prerequisites; the emphasis lies on clinical expertise and surgical success. Candidates must possess nationally recognized advanced degrees in neurosurgery such as M.Ch Neurosurgery, DM Neurosurgery, DrNB Neurosurgery, or DNB-SS Neurosurgery.

Experience and Expertise

Applicants should have between one and four years of post-specialty qualification experience, demonstrating proven independent surgical capabilities. Key areas of expertise include surgical and non-surgical treatments for:

  • Cranial conditions such as brain tumors (glioma, meningioma), cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and hydrocephalus.
  • Spinal issues covering degenerative diseases, spinal cord trauma, tumors, diskectomy, laminectomy, and spinal fusion.
  • Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery (MINS) techniques, including microsurgery and navigation-assisted procedures.
  • Neuro-trauma emergencies, managing critical head and spinal injuries.
  • Diagnostic interpretation of MRI and CT scans with collaborative engagement alongside Neurology and Radiology teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert neurosurgical consultations to outpatients and inpatients.
  • Conduct both scheduled and emergency neurosurgical operations, providing continuous 24/7 operational support.
  • Manage critical neurological cases in ICU and NSICU environments.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance neurosurgical department efficiency and clinical outcomes.

Compensation Package

  • Competitive monthly remuneration between 350,000 INR and 600,000 INR, reflecting experience and qualifications.
  • Retention bonuses awarded after completion of the first and second years of service.
  • Additional variable pay linked to individual clinical performance and procedural activity levels.
