Job description
Role Overview
We invite applications for the position of Consultant Cardiologist within our Cardiology Department at a premier Super Speciality College and Hospital managed by a reputed university in Kolkata. This clinical practitioner role focuses on delivering excellent patient care and procedural expertise, without a mandatory requirement for prior teaching or academic involvement.
Key Duties
- Deliver comprehensive clinical care to both outpatients and inpatients suffering from diverse cardiovascular diseases.
- Conduct diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures using advanced facilities such as the Cardiac Cath Lab and various non-invasive laboratories including Echocardiography, TMT, and Holter monitoring.
- Handle acute cardiac emergencies like acute coronary syndromes and heart failure in settings such as the Emergency Department, CCU, and ICU.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team comprised of specialists, nursing staff, and technicians to provide holistic patient management.
- Provide patient and family counseling regarding cardiac conditions, treatment protocols, and preventative cardiology care.
- Maintain adherence to NABH standards and internal clinical protocols ensuring safety and quality care.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Educational credentials should include MCh Cardiology, MCh CTVS, DM Cardiology, DrNB Cardiology, or DNB-SS Cardiology recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
- Valid registration with a state or national medical council is mandatory.
- Candidates should have up to four years of post-super-specialisation experience, preferably gained in university or medical college hospital environments to ensure clinical proficiency.
- Academic teaching or research experience is beneficial but not compulsory.
Technical Skills and Expertise
- Expertise in clinical cardiology and proficiency with non-invasive diagnostic methods such as 2D/3D Echocardiography, Doppler studies, and Stress Testing.
- Capability to perform suitable invasive cardiac procedures in line with the candidate’s experience level.
- Familiarity with critical care monitoring tools and life-support devices like IABP and temporary pacemakers.
- Desirable skills include interpreting advanced cardiac imaging modalities such as 64-slice CT Angiography and MRI scans.
Compensation and Work Conditions
- Monthly remuneration ranges from INR 350,000 to INR 800,000, commensurate with relevant experience.
- This is a full-time position requiring availability for 24/7 emergency coverage, scheduled as per departmental rosters.
