Position Overview
We are seeking a Middle GIS Specialist to become a part of our team, focusing on projects related to the handling and interpretation of aerial LiDAR and point cloud information, mainly for utility and power infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, categorize, and validate LiDAR datasets.
- Extract features and develop models of utility assets including power lines, conductors, poles, towers, vegetation, and terrain elements.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Between 1 and 4 years of experience in LiDAR or point cloud data processing.
- Proficient practical skills in point cloud classification and quality assurance/control.
- Experienced in working with three-dimensional spatial data.
- Competent in extracting features from LiDAR datasets.
- Meticulous attention to detail with capability to detect data quality issues.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of GIS principles.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with utility or electrical transmission and distribution datasets.
- Experience with aerial LiDAR technology.
- Knowledge in analysis of conductors, poles/towers, vegetation, and terrain classifications.
- Understanding of conductor or catenary modeling and clearance analysis methodologies.
- Hands-on exposure to software such as PLS-CADD, TerraSolid, TerraScan, or MicroStation.
- Experience in utility asset modeling or powerline mapping workflows.
