Their expertise spans GIS and LiDAR domains, managing extensive spatial and 3D datasets for infrastructure and utilities projects.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Mid-level LiDAR Specialist to become a part of our team, focusing on processing and analyzing aerial LiDAR and point cloud data related to utility and power infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, classify, and validate LiDAR datasets.
- Extract and model utility assets including power lines, conductors, poles, towers, vegetation, and terrain features.
Required Skills and Experience
- Between 1 and 4 years of practical experience with LiDAR and point cloud data processing.
- Hands-on capability in point cloud classification coupled with quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Experience manipulating 3D spatial datasets.
- Proficiency in extracting features from LiDAR information.
- Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for detecting data quality issues.
- Fundamental to intermediate understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience dealing with utility, power transmission, or distribution datasets.
- Exposure to aerial LiDAR data acquisition and processing.
- Familiarity with objects such as conductors, poles or towers, vegetation, and ground classifications.
- Knowledge of conductor or catenary modeling along with clearance evaluation.
- Experience with tools such as PLS-CADD, TerraSolid/TerraScan, or MicroStation.
- Involvement in utility asset modeling or powerline mapping tasks.
