Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior LiDAR Specialist to join our team on projects centered around processing and analyzing aerial LiDAR and point cloud information tied to utility and power infrastructure. This position is responsible for processing, classifying, and validating LiDAR datasets, along with extracting and modeling assets such as power transmission lines, poles, towers, vegetation, and terrain features.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
- Apply 1 to 4 years of experience in LiDAR and point cloud data processing.
- Perform classification of point clouds and conduct quality assurance and control checks.
- Work extensively with three-dimensional spatial datasets.
- Extract distinct features from LiDAR data to model various utility assets.
- Maintain strong attention to detail to detect and address data quality concerns.
- Demonstrate basic to intermediate proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling utility data related to power transmission or distribution.
- Background using aerial LiDAR technology.
- Familiarity with classes including conductors, poles, towers, vegetation, and ground surfaces.
- Knowledge of conductor and catenary modeling alongside clearance analysis.
- Experience with software platforms such as PLS-CADD, TerraSolid/TerraScan, or MicroStation.
- Insight into utility asset modeling and mapping of powerlines.
