About the Role

Join WSP as a Lead Geomorphologist, using your expertise to analyze complex natural systems and develop innovative solutions that reinforce communities, protect ecosystems, and promote sustainable growth throughout Western Canada. Key Responsibilities

• Lead geomorphological studies related to fluvial and coastal environments throughout all project phases, from proposal to completion.
• Contribute to business growth by strategically planning, nurturing client relationships, and expanding service capabilities.
• Utilize advanced expertise in erosion, debris flows, sediment transport, and morphological processes to address intricate environmental challenges.
• Implement process-driven approaches for river and shoreline restoration, including natural hazard mitigation strategies.
• Oversee geoscientific analyses that support geo-environmental evaluations and design of major surface water infrastructure.
• Assist with detailed design and construction processes by developing technical specifications, cost estimates, and interpreting geomorphic data.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, ensuring project scope, budgets, and timelines are met effectively.
• Mentor and develop professionals at all levels, enhancing team skills and succession planning.

Qualifications and Experience

• Advanced degree in Physical Geography, Earth Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Registered or eligible to become a Professional Geoscientist within six months in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, or the Northwest Territories.
• At least 10 years of consulting or related domain experience with demonstrated success in client engagement.
• Comprehensive knowledge of fluvial, coastal, and hillslope processes including debris flow and flood dynamics.
• Extensive background in water resources and hydrotechnical projects, such as geohazard evaluations, sediment transport, erosion control, and nature-inspired solutions.
• Strong leadership skills encompassing problem-solving, collaboration, and team growth.
• Hands-on experience conducting fieldwork, site inspections during construction, and guiding junior staff while maintaining safety standards.
• Proven ability to mentor junior and intermediate professionals effectively.

Compensation

Salaries vary based on location and individual qualifications:

• Alberta, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, Yukon: $110,600 to $146,500
• Manitoba and Ontario: $100,900 to $139,000
• New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec: $99,900 to $132,700

The final remuneration depends on factors like experience, education, skills, and location, and is subject to change.
