About the Role

Join WSP as a Lead Geomorphologist where your expertise will guide the analysis of intricate natural environments to support community resilience, ecosystem protection, and sustainable development in Western Canada. This leadership position integrates technical proficiency and strategic vision within a multidisciplinary team context.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead fluvial and coastal geomorphological projects from initial proposal through final delivery.
• Enhance business growth by strategic planning, strengthening client relationships, and broadening service capabilities.
• Apply advanced knowledge of erosion, debris flow, sediment transport, and fluvial/coastal morphology to address complex environmental challenges.
• Implement process-based methodologies for river and shoreline restoration as well as natural hazard mitigation.
• Provide expert geoscience guidance for geo-environmental assessments and design of major surface water infrastructure.
• Support project design and construction phases by developing technical specifications, cost estimates, and geomorphic interpretations.
• Lead and collaborate with multidiscipline teams, overseeing scope, budget, and schedule management.
• Mentor professionals across different experience levels to strengthen team skills and succession planning.

Qualifications and Expertise

• Advanced academic degree in Physical Geography, Earth Science, or a closely related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Registered or eligible within six months as a Professional Geoscientist in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Northwest Territories.
• At least 10 years of consulting or relevant experience with proven success in client relationship building.
• In-depth knowledge of fluvial, coastal, hillslope processes, including debris flows and flood incidents.
• Comprehensive background in water resource management and hydrotechnical projects, geohazard evaluation, sediment transport, erosion control, and nature-based solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership skills including problem-solving, collaboration, and team development.
• Practical experience conducting field studies, site inspections, and supervising junior staff while maintaining rigorous safety standards.
• Successful track record of mentoring junior and intermediate professionals.

Compensation Details

Salary ranges by region:
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $110,600 - $146,500
MB & ON: $100,900 - $139,000
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $99,900 - $132,700

Actual compensation will vary based on education, credentials, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, and organizational needs. Salary ranges may be adjusted for business reasons.
