Lead Geomorphologist

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in fluvial and coastal geomorphology throughout all project phases from proposal to completion within multidisciplinary teams.
• Drive organizational growth by strategic planning, building client relationships, and broadening the range of services offered.
• Utilize specialized knowledge in erosion, debris flows, sediment transport, and fluvial/coastal morphology to address complex environmental challenges.
• Develop and implement process-based strategies for river and shoreline restoration and natural hazard mitigation.
• Offer technical guidance on geoscience analyses that support geo-environmental assessments and surface water infrastructure design.
• Assist detailed design and construction with technical specifications, cost estimation, and interpretation of geomorphic data.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules while providing leadership and mentoring to diverse teams.
• Support the professional growth of staff at all experience levels to strengthen team capability and ensure succession planning.

Qualifications and Experience

• Advanced academic background in Physical Geography, Earth Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Geoscientist in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Northwest Territories within 6 months.
• At least 10 years of professional consulting or comparable experience with notable achievements in client development.
• Extensive expertise in fluvial, coastal, and hillslope geomorphic processes including debris flow and flood dynamics.
• Broad experience in water resource management and hydrotechnical projects encompassing geohazard assessments, sediment and erosion control, and nature-based solution implementation.
• Proven leadership abilities evidenced by excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and talent development skills.
• Experience conducting field investigations, site inspections, and providing guidance while enforcing safety protocols.
• Demonstrated success mentoring junior and mid-level professionals.
