Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our manufacturing facility located in Botany, New South Wales. This key position supports asset integrity, optimises maintenance activities, enhances plant reliability, and drives mechanical improvement projects within one of IXOM's major operational sites. This role is hands-on and requires close collaboration with maintenance crews, operators, and project stakeholders to address challenges, boost plant efficiency, and oversee engineering solutions from planning through execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and enhance mechanical maintenance, reliability, and asset integrity efforts on-site.
• Identify repetitive mechanical issues and implement long-lasting reliability improvements.
• Assist in regulatory inspections and ensure mechanical compliance.
• Lead sustaining capital and improvement initiatives from conceptualization to completion.
• Participate in maintenance planning, coordinate shutdowns, and contribute to asset management strategies.
• Collaborate directly with maintenance technicians to realize engineering enhancements and deliver results.
• Assist with long-term strategies focused on asset renewal and reliability enhancement.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in industries such as manufacturing, chemical, mining, oil & gas, petrochemical, or pulp & paper.
• Proven ability to work effectively alongside maintenance technicians and operational teams.
• Hands-on experience supporting maintenance, reliability, asset integrity, or operational engineering functions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical approach to engineering challenges.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with technicians, contractors, and operational stakeholders.
• A proactive team player who takes ownership and follows projects to completion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in highly regulated environments such as Major Hazard Facilities (MHF).
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems, asset integrity programs, or capital project execution.
