Laboratory Technician

About the Role

IXOM is inviting applications for a Laboratory Technician at our Mt Maunganui manufacturing facility. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals who want to develop practical laboratory skills within a supportive and cooperative team setting. Alongside seasoned mentors, the successful candidate will engage in laboratory testing, quality control processes, sample handling, and general lab tasks, building a foundation for a career in the chemical sector.

Key Duties

• Analyze production and client samples.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and ensure quality control.
• Assist with troubleshooting and technical problem-solving activities.
• Support wastewater testing and manage sample workflows.
• Prepare chemical reagents and maintain lab equipment in good working order.
• Enter data into quality management systems internally and externally.
• Help with testing new products and assess raw materials.
• Keep laboratory records up to date and maintain cleanliness and organization.
• Occasionally support outdoor technical trials and projects.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
• Laboratory, testing, or quality control experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• Recent graduates are warmly encouraged to apply.
• Displays great attention to detail and prioritizes safety and quality standards.
• Communicates well and works effectively as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
• Possesses a valid full New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
• Enthusiastic to broaden skills across diverse lab activities.
