Maintenance Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join a busy workshop overseeing the servicing and upkeep of a diverse rental vehicle fleet. This permanent, full-time position offers a structured training program, genuine paths for career growth, and a £1,500 joining bonus paid in two parts: half in the first month and the remainder after successfully completing a 90-day probation.

The role is based in Romsey, Southampton, with a competitive hourly wage ranging from £15.69 to £16.00, equating to approximately £35,000+ annually depending on experience.

Working Hours

This workshop position requires 42.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with flexible start times between 7:00am and 6:00pm. Typical shifts run from 8:00am to 5:00pm. There is no mandatory weekend work, although optional Saturday overtime is available at enhanced pay rates.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine vehicle servicing and scheduled maintenance across the fleet.
• Conduct brake, tyre, and general mechanical repairs as needed.
• Thoroughly inspect vehicles to verify safety and compliance standards.
• Detect and address worn or damaged components to prevent breakdowns.
• Execute repairs and part replacements according to manufacturer and company specifications.
• Utilize workshop systems to precisely log all completed work activities.
• Perform road testing of vehicles where authorized and licensed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment while delivering high-quality workmanship.

Requirements

• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
• Possession of a full UK driving licence.
• Certification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair at Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ, IMI, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Hands-on experience in a workshop setting with servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle inspections, brakes, suspension, steering, and other general mechanical systems.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced workshop team.
• A proactive attitude and eagerness for continuous learning and professional growth.

Technicians holding a Level 2 qualification aiming to advance to Level 3 are welcome to apply, with training and development opportunities provided.
