About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and safety-driven Line Mechanic to join our Construction and Maintenance division. This position involves building and maintaining overhead electrical lines and operating critical electrical equipment up to 33kV to ensure continuous electricity supply throughout our network. If you are hands-on, enjoy practical work, and want to support vital infrastructure, this role is an excellent fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct and maintain overhead electrical lines that comply with customer, project, and network standards.
- Assist in planning for construction, servicing, and upgrades of electricity lines and related hardware.
- Install and replace overhead conductors and pole structures as required.
- Overhaul non-load-bearing pole components in electrical networks up to 66kV.
- Operate ground and structure-mounted electrical equipment associated with lines up to 33kV.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures, working efficiently and maintaining professional quality throughout all tasks.
Qualifications
- NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution) Level 4.
- Valid New Zealand Driver Licence.
- Heavy Traffic Licence is highly advantageous.
- Additional relevant competencies related to network or customer requirements are beneficial.
Experience and Skills
- Demonstrable experience working on overhead electrical lines.
- A strong safety focus with an excellent track record in safety compliance.
- Dependable team player with a positive attitude and strong commitment to quality work.
- Good communication skills enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and customers.
- Experience in electrical maintenance and construction environments.
- Capability to work safely in high-risk settings abiding by all safety protocols.
