Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Workshop Controller to manage the daily operations of our busy workshop in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. This leadership position involves collaborating closely with Foremen, Service Advisors, Technicians, and the Parts team to ensure efficient workflow, timely completion of jobs, and maintaining high-quality standards.
Primary Duties
- Organise and oversee the daily workflow and job assignments within the workshop.
- Assist Workshop Foremen in optimising the productivity and utilisation of technicians.
- Monitor workshop activity including job load, progress, and repair completion timelines.
- Prioritise repair jobs, including customer requests, warranty tasks, and urgent repairs.
- Coordinate with Service Advisors, Technicians, and the Parts department to ensure smooth job progression.
- Drive workshop performance to meet labour recovery and utilisation targets.
- Ensure all work adheres strictly to safety protocols, accuracy, and manufacturer standards.
- Foster a culture focused on first-time fix accuracy and reliability.
- Support reporting, documentation, and administrative tasks related to the workshop.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience as a Workshop Controller, Foreman, or senior workshop leader.
- Comprehensive knowledge of automotive services and workshop operations.
- Strong planning and organisational skills capable of handling a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Customer-oriented with dedication to quality and safety standards.
