About the Role

Northpower is seeking a licensed Electrician with an industrial background to serve as an Electrical Fitter. This position is based in a substation setting, focusing on both construction and maintenance projects. Responsibilities include installing, wiring, testing, and upkeeping electrical equipment compliant with industry standards, customer needs, and regulatory mandates.

Reporting directly to the Technical Field Manager, the role requires collaboration with internal teams and external partners to ensure quality outcomes, emphasizing safety, quality, and continuous enhancement.

Key Duties

• Perform electrical fitting tasks adhering to regulatory and industry benchmarks.
• Construct, wire, test, and maintain substation electrical systems (11kV–110kV).
• Interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and specifications accurately.
• Maintain precise wiring and comprehensive documentation of jobs.
• Take responsibility for assigned tasks ensuring accountability and quality.
• Comply with operational, regulatory, and customer-related standards.
• Diagnose issues using logical problem-solving and implement effective remedies.
• Contribute proactively to safety audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and safety practices.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment are properly maintained and suited for purpose.
• Enforce safety protocols, including authority to halt unsafe work operations.
• Maintain strict compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental (HSQE) regulations.
• Report all safety incidents, hazards, and near misses without delay.
• Adhere to environmental and regulatory requirements diligently.

Candidate Profile

• Must hold a valid EWRB Practising Licence (mandatory).
• Experienced licensed electrician with robust industrial experience.
• Possession or pursuit of a Certificate in Electrical Engineering is advantageous.
• Proven track record in substation construction or maintenance (11kV–110kV range).
• Competent at interpreting electrical schematics and completing necessary wiring.
• Strong analytical mind with excellent diagnostic and logical reasoning skills.
• Aptitude for both mechanical and electronics-related tasks.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Capability to handle the physical demands of the work environment.
• A cooperative and team-oriented attitude.
