Job Overview

We are inviting applications for the position of Lead Weight Control Engineer based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role reports directly to the Head of Department and involves comprehensive management of weight control activities throughout offshore oil and gas projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and enforce Project Weight Control Procedures.
• Develop Weight Breakdown Structures for projects.
• Define and apply Weight Contingency philosophies adapted to different project phases.
• Implement mechanisms to monitor and track weight growth effectively.
• Evaluate the Center of Gravity (CoG) for all components and specify CoG envelopes for structures sensitive to design.
• Consider CoG requirements for lifting, transport, and installation phases.
• Coordinate data collection and validation across disciplines, ensuring accuracy of weight and CoG inputs.
• Review discipline deliverables including MTOs (Material Take-Offs) for structural, piping, vendor data, E&I layouts, HVAC, and architectural plans.
• Analyze Technical Queries, Site Queries, and Management of Change requests to assess impacts on weight.
• Participate actively in Management of Change reviews to identify weight-related issues.
• Assess scenarios with weight limitations and define Not-to-Exceed values.
• Support initiatives focused on weight optimization.
• Prepare and disseminate reports such as Weight Control Reports, Status Reports, Growth Registers, and Forecast Reports.
• Interact with Marine Warranty Surveyors on weight-related requirements.
• Create and maintain comprehensive weight databases.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus but not mandatory.
• At least 15 years of experience in offshore oil and gas projects.
• Minimum of 10 years specifically in weight control reporting activities.
• Proven expertise in fixed offshore platform jacket and topside weight reporting, managing weight budgets and controlling weight growth on large-scale offshore projects.
• Experience with brownfield projects, offshore bridges, flare structures, and modules.
• Strong skills in interdisciplinary coordination, managing client interfaces, and handling interfaces effectively.

Client & Interface Experience

• Familiarity with ADNOC, ARAMCO, and QP/QG weight reporting standards.
• Experience coordinating with clients, Project Management Consultants (PMC), certifying authorities, marine warranty surveyors, fabrication contractors, vendors, and installation contractors.
• Proficient in multidisciplinary collaboration involving structural, piping, mechanical, electrical & instrumentation (E&I), HVAC, HSE, and architectural fields.
