About the Role

The Education Assistant - Lead position is open to candidates interested in permanent and fixed-term full-time or part-time roles potentially starting during the 2026 academic year and extending to the end of Term 3, 2027. This role involves supervising, mentoring, and exemplifying best practices for other Education Assistants. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in supporting and managing the Education Assistant workforce collaboratively across departments, demonstrating professionalism, organization, and excellent communication aligning with the Department of Education's Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

You will lead and guide Education Assistants by coaching and supporting them in their work with students. This includes contributing to the development and execution of documented plans that foster positive student behavior and enhance learning outcomes. The role also involves building strong, teamwork-based relationships within the school community and supporting various program portfolios such as COVE PBS, intervention, operations, and specialist learning programs at Ocean Reef Senior High School. Organizational duties include coordinating staff rosters and relief arrangements to ensure smooth program delivery.

Requirements

Applicants should ideally have experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with complex communication or medical challenges and behavior difficulties. The role requires advanced skills in oral and written communication, including report writing and data coordination for whole-school use. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to mentor, coach, induct, and provide advice to staff, as well as problem-solve and assist in developing educational strategies. Eligibility mandates Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa, obtaining a Working With Children Check, and passing a National Criminal History Check before starting.
