Job description

About Leeming Senior High School

Leeming Senior High School (SHS) has proudly served families for over three decades. As an Independent Public School, it is dedicated to equipping students with excellent resources and a nurturing environment that encourages success and personal growth. The school fosters a collaborative partnership among students, parents, and staff to support students through their high school journey, guided by the motto of Harmony and Excellence that inspires the entire community to reach their full potential and care for one another. The school community is intimate enough to offer personalised attention yet diverse enough to meet broad academic and extracurricular needs, all situated in a tranquil bushland setting that promotes a peaceful learning atmosphere.

Role Overview

This permanent, full-time role begins in Term 4, 2026. The primary responsibility involves overseeing the daily functions of the school library, delivering reference and information assistance to both students and teaching staff. Key tasks include managing the library's operational systems, maintaining and cataloguing resources, conducting instructional sessions on library skills and technologies, and organising visit schedules. The role also calls for advising students, parents, and faculty in selecting appropriate materials and designing engaging displays that align with school curricula.

The successful candidate will supervise small student groups outside class hours or during library-related learning activities, contributing to a supportive, well-organised educational environment. Building and sustaining collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders is essential. Additionally, this position may provide administrative assistance to the front office as required.

Eligibility and Additional Information

  • Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, or hold valid work visas for the appointment duration.
  • A Working With Children Check must be obtained prior to commencement.
  • A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and Department of Education Screening Clearance Number are required before starting.

The role supports inclusivity and encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, young people, diverse sexualities and genders, individuals with disabilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, in alignment with the school's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plan 2021-2025.

Application Process

  • Submit an online application form including two work-related referees, ideally one current line manager.
  • Provide a CV (maximum three pages) detailing employment history and relevant professional development.
  • Submit a two-page statement addressing the selection criteria as specified in the role's Job Description Form.

Demonstrated skills required include effective verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal capabilities, self-motivation with teamwork aptitude, competence in using computers and various software applications such as databases, spreadsheets, and word processing, and proven ability to prioritise and organise administrative duties efficiently.

Additional Notes

Applicants must apply before 4:30pm AWST on Thursday, 17 September 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted. Suitable candidates may be considered for similar roles arising within 12 months post selection. A four-day breach response period applies.
