About the School and Role

This permanent, full-time opportunity is based at Leonora District High School (DHS) situated in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, north of Kalgoorlie. The school serves Kindergarten through Year 12 with an enrolment of 112 students, 79% of whom identify as Aboriginal, reflecting a strong commitment to integrating Aboriginal Cultural Standards across curricula.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves ensuring a hygienic and safe learning environment. Duties encompass both internal and external cleaning tasks. Inside, the Cleaner will maintain carpets and hard floors, clean furniture and fittings, wash windows, sanitize toilets, and perform dusting. Outside responsibilities include rubbish collection, cleaning drinking troughs, external windows, covered verandas, and removing cobwebs. Vacation periods require more specialized cleaning such as stripping and sealing vinyl floors, carpet shampooing, and pressure cleaning of outdoor covered areas as directed by the Cleaner-In-Charge.

Candidate Profile

Ideal applicants will possess strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team, and demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and organizational skills. They should have sound knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe practices related to cleaning methods.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Working With Children Check.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and secure a Screening Clearance Number before commencement.
  • Applicants must be Australian/New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, or hold valid work visas for the duration of employment.
