Heavy Cleaner

Job Overview

The Heavy Cleaner is responsible for upholding cleanliness standards throughout both public and non-public areas of the casino property, adhering strictly to Seneca Gaming Corporation's policies, internal controls, and objectives.

Key Duties

• Ensure upkeep of cleanliness across casino floors, hotel lobby, spa/salon, back-of-house areas, and restaurants using various cleaning machines such as buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaners, escalator cleaners, and other related equipment.
• Perform assigned cleaning tasks independently and collaborate with team members when necessary.
• Have a foundational understanding and proper handling of different cleaning chemicals.
• Assist with additional projects as assigned, including lighter cleaning duties like maintaining restrooms and floor areas.
• Maintain strict adherence to information security policies, including compliance with the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy at all times.
• Provide outstanding customer service by engaging with patrons pleasantly and professionally, while fostering a professional atmosphere among colleagues and management.
• Comply with attendance requirements and follow all regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures.
• Complete all mandatory SGC training courses within the first nine months of employment.
• Participate in all required meetings.
• Recognize that tasks, responsibilities, and expectations may evolve as operational needs change. Shifts are arranged throughout a 24-hour schedule.

Qualifications and Experience

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old at the time of hiring.
• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Customer service experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with the correct use of cleaning machinery and chemicals is necessary.
• Experience operating buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaning devices, escalator cleaners, and other cleaning equipment is required.
• Previous housekeeping experience is considered a plus.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are essential.
• Ability to write routine correspondence and communicate effectively with the public, staff, and customers.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting positively with customers and coworkers.
• Capable of diplomatically resolving disputes or conflicts.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Essential physical requirements include standing, walking, and moving throughout the casino environment. Employees are expected to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform heavy lifting regularly. The casino environment includes exposure to moderate noise, escalating to loud areas on the casino floor, and permits smoking. Maintaining mental stamina and a positive attitude to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting is vital.

Compensation

The starting pay rate is $16.16 per hour, though compensation is negotiable based on experience and educational background. Minimum qualifications may be adjusted if no fully qualified candidates are identified.
