Job Overview

WSP is seeking a seasoned GIS Specialist to join their team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, focusing on major transportation, road, and utility infrastructure projects. The role involves managing and analyzing geospatial data to aid construction supervision, asset management, utility coordination, and comprehensive project reporting across all stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee GIS databases, geodatabases, and spatial datasets tied to infrastructure projects.
  • Provide geospatial analysis and mapping support to transportation, roads, utilities, and drainage initiatives.
  • Integrate diverse datasets including survey, utility, engineering, and construction information into GIS platforms.
  • Create detailed GIS maps, drawings, dashboards, and spatial reports for internal teams and clients.
  • Facilitate utility coordination, asset inventory management, and infrastructure mapping tasks.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of geospatial data sourced from contractors and stakeholders.
  • Maintain GIS data standards and metadata, enforcing quality control procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with land surveyors, engineers, and site supervisors to maintain precise spatial asset representation.
  • Assist in developing as-built GIS records and maintain digital asset databases.
  • Conduct spatial analyses to aid project planning, progress monitoring, and informed decision-making.
  • Support the creation and refinement of GIS workflows and data management protocols.
  • Contribute to client reporting and ensure geospatial data submissions meet project delivery requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
  • A minimum of eight years’ experience in GIS, ideally within infrastructure projects.
  • Mandatory prior GIS experience based in Saudi Arabia (KSA).
  • Proven track record with engineering consultancy firms.
  • Extensive background supporting transportation, roads, highways, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, and QGIS.
  • Experience managing geodatabases, spatial analyses, data conversions, and map productions.
  • Familiarity with integrating survey data, coordinate systems, and geospatial data management standards.
  • Preferred experience in construction supervision and infrastructure delivery support.
  • Strong analytical capabilities coupled with effective communication and reporting skills.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
