Job Overview
WSP is looking to hire a Material Inspector to join its team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on supervising construction activities related to major transportation, roads, utilities, and infrastructure projects. The inspector will be responsible for ensuring all materials used meet specified quality standards and project criteria.
Primary Responsibilities
- Examine construction materials arriving on site to confirm they match the approved specifications and project requirements.
- Assess submissions related to materials, including approvals, test outcomes, and quality paperwork.
- Observe sampling and testing processes for various construction materials as per the approved inspection and test plans.
- Oversee site procedures to guarantee usage of materials aligns with project specifications and maintains quality standards.
- Inspect materials involved in earthworks, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, utilities, and other infrastructure components.
- Collaborate closely with contractors, testing laboratories, site engineers, and other project members to resolve material-related challenges.
- Maintain comprehensive inspection records and generate regular daily, weekly, and monthly reports as necessary.
- Detect and report materials that do not conform, helping implement corrective measures.
- Ensure adherence to local authority standards, project specifications, and quality management procedures.
- Participate in site inspections, quality control meetings, and coordination sessions when required.
- Confirm that all testing activities comply strictly with the approved standards and methods.
- Assist Resident Engineers and Site Engineers in upholding the project's quality objectives.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- At least five years of practical experience as a Material Inspector on transportation, roads, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience in construction supervision within consultancy settings.
- Deep understanding of construction materials such as asphalt, concrete, aggregates, soil, and utility-related substances.
- Familiarity with material testing protocols, quality control processes, and inspection techniques.
- Competence in reviewing laboratory test documentation and material approval reports.
- Knowledge of Abu Dhabi and UAE authority standards and specifications.
- Capability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and inspection documentation effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills along with proficient report writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Experience working on major infrastructure and transportation projects in the UAE is highly desirable.
- Consultancy-side project supervision experience is crucial.
