Job Overview
As a Land Surveyor at WSP in the Middle East, based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, you will play a crucial role within the site supervision team. Your primary responsibility is to oversee and validate survey work conducted by contractors on transportation, roadway, and utility infrastructure projects, ensuring precision in construction layouts, elevation levels, alignments, and as-built documentation. This position supports the successful execution of complex infrastructure developments.
Responsibilities
- Examine and verify contractor survey operations, including setting out and control points.
- Confirm that construction activities follow approved drawings, technical specifications, and coordinate systems.
- Perform field surveys and inspections to validate alignment accuracy, elevation consistency, and dimensional correctness.
- Establish and sustain survey control networks and benchmarks across project sites.
- Validate survey quantities, measurements, and as-built data.
- Oversee contractor adherence to approved survey methods and quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with Resident Engineers, inspectors, and supervision teams to address and resolve site survey-related challenges.
- Review and analyze survey documentation including reports, drawings, and as-built records.
- Assist progress monitoring by verifying completed works through survey data.
- Ensure all survey instruments are properly calibrated and meet project requirements.
- Contribute to preparation of technical and survey documentation reports.
- Support delivery across projects related to transportation infrastructure, including roads, highways, utilities, and drainage networks.
Requirements
- Possession of a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in surveying.
- Minimum 5 years dedicated experience in transportation, roadways, highways, and utility infrastructure projects.
- Essential experience working within Saudi Arabia (KSA).
- Proven track record with engineering consultancy firms handling construction supervision.
- Proficiency in contemporary surveying technologies, such as GPS, Total Station instruments, leveling devices, and digital surveying equipment.
- Experience in scrutinizing contractor survey submissions and validating construction setting outs.
- A deep understanding of infrastructure construction practices and quality assurance methods.
- Capability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and geospatial data accurately.
- Strong communication abilities and proficiency in technical reporting.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required; knowledge of Arabic is considered beneficial.
