Role Overview
The Geotechnical Engineer position reports to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer and involves managing geotechnical and civil engineering risks while supporting the development of design solutions related to excavations, earth retaining structures, foundation systems, and ground improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to the T2D Project Values consistently.
- Support site investigations, perform data collection, mapping, and conduct geotechnical testing activities.
- Carry out daily monitoring of geotechnical risks during construction of key structures and promptly report any observations.
- Prepare fundamental technical calculations, drawings, and reports with guidance.
- Conduct instrument assessments and monitor ground movement as construction progresses.
- Review and evaluate design drawings and technical reports for temporary and permanent works related to specific structures.
- Ensure compliance with project standards, quality criteria, and safety protocols, promoting these across the team.
- Engage actively in team meetings, contribute to knowledge sharing, and pursue professional development opportunities.
- Perform additional duties assigned as appropriate to expertise and capabilities.
- Assist in developing geotechnical design models, performing stability analyses, and characterizing materials.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Geological Science.
- Advancement toward professional accreditation such as Chartered status with Engineers Australia.
- Experience and proficiency with geotechnical design software, soil and rock mechanics, as well as laboratory testing and analysis methods related to earthworks and soil/rock properties.
