Role Overview
The Carousel Operator position involves managing heavy-duty, hydraulically or electrically powered cable storage and tensioning equipment. The role requires overseeing the careful handling, transpooling, and laying of substantial subsea and power cables.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate primary equipment such as carousels, loading arms, and tensioners to handle subsea cables during loading and deployment phases.
- Ensure cable conditions by monitoring factors like integrity, speed, and tension to avoid damage.
- Conduct regular inspections, troubleshoot, and carry out preventive maintenance on carousel and winch machinery.
- Collaborate closely with deck engineers, riggers, and the Shift Supervisor during transpooling and cable pull-in activities.
- Follow all offshore health, safety, and environmental regulations, maritime standards and participate in mandatory safety drills.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Between two to five years of hands-on experience in subsea or offshore cable handling operations.
- Possession of specialized marine and safety certifications; for offshore wind farm projects, Global Wind Organisation certificates such as Working at Heights and Sea Survival are typically necessary.
- Valid offshore medical certificate (such as ENG1 or a comparable qualification) and essential safety course certifications like BOSIET or HUET.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary offered ranges from 80,000 to 90,000 AUD before tax, along with superannuation contributions.
