Role Objective

The Surveyor will be responsible for delivering precise measurements and accurately determining property boundaries. This role involves collecting and analyzing data related to land features such as shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions, supporting applications in engineering, mapping, mining, land assessment, and construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions to document surveys clearly and take accountability for work performed.
• Ensure the accuracy of survey findings, including field measurements and computational results.
• Lead or execute surveys to establish legal property boundaries referencing official deeds and titles.
• Document survey outcomes detailing land topology, position, elevation, and dimensions.
• Calculate terrain-related features such as heights, depths, and property limits.
• Oversee or prepare data sets, charts, maps, and relevant records associated with surveys.
• Draft detailed descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in official legal documents.
• Organize and perform ground surveys to determine baselines, elevations, and geodetic markers.
• Research legal and survey records and land titles to gather information on property boundaries.
• Liaise with engineering, architectural teams, clients, and other stakeholders to align survey findings with project goals.
• Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments to ensure precision.
• Establish fixed reference points for map creation using geodetic and engineering equipment.
• Determine coordinates of critical survey features using instruments such as theodolites, transits, levels, and GPS technology.
• Assess survey objectives and guide the preparation of proposals.
• Interpret geodetic measurements and survey data to determine geomorphic and topographic characteristics.
• Develop methods and procedures for surveying techniques and instrumentation improvements.
• Conduct research on surveying and mapping methodologies, including photogrammetry and electronic data handling.
• Identify and mark locations for geophysical exploration activities.
• Survey water bodies to chart navigable routes and support construction of maritime infrastructure.
• Specify photographic equipment and flight parameters for aerial terrain photography.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree, post-secondary training, or TAFE certificate in Surveying or related discipline.
• Three to five years of hands-on experience covering all aspects of construction and engineering surveying.
• Strong coordination and negotiation skills.
• Technical expertise combined with a profit-oriented mindset.
