Job description

Role Overview

Higgins Wellington has won a new contract with Wellington City Council for road maintenance. Consequently, they are expanding their team and looking to hire a Foreperson who will be responsible for overseeing a crew of four members.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Lead and guide a small team efficiently within the road construction and maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrate hands-on assistance, supporting the crew in a wide range of operational tasks.
  • Operate various civil engineering and roadwork machinery with competence.
  • Be prepared to engage in an on-call roster system to support project needs as required.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

  • Prior experience in road construction or maintenance activities.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate team members.
  • Possess a full Class 2 Driver’s Licence and WTR (Worker Traffic Regulation) certification.
  • Capability to handle different types of civil engineering and roadwork plant machinery.
  • Desirable: TC Basic Certificate and First Aid qualification.
  • Familiarity with the Road Asset Maintenance Management system (RAMM) is advantageous.
  • Reliable, honest, and an excellent team collaborator.
