Job description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Traffic Division based in Hamilton. This position involves leading the planning, design, and execution of temporary traffic management solutions across various infrastructure, roading, and construction projects. The successful candidate will ensure projects proceed safely, efficiently, and on schedule by collaborating closely with project teams, clients, approval authorities, and operational crews to guarantee high-quality outcomes from initial planning through to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of temporary traffic management strategies across multiple projects.
- Prepare and oversee Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), traffic staging documentation, and design materials.
- Coordinate approval processes with Road Controlling Authorities, councils, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Track and manage project budgets, resource allocation, program milestones, and overall commercial performance.
- Offer technical advice and support to engineers, planners, and operational teams.
- Promote and enforce strong standards of safety, quality, and compliance in all traffic management activities.
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Traffic Management, Project Management, or equivalent professional experience in related fields.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in construction, infrastructure, roading, or traffic management projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing TMPs and engaging with approval authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand traffic management standards, project delivery processes, and construction techniques.
- Proven ability to coordinate project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders effectively to meet program objectives.
- Commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, cost control, and project reporting.
