The Jacobs Studies team is looking for an enthusiastic Senior or Associate Earthing Engineer to join our specialized consultancy based in New Zealand. This role presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to a respected team delivering varied projects across Australia, New Zealand, and international locations. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive earthing analyses and designs including Earthing and Bonding, Lightning Performance, Earth Potential Rise (EPR), Low Frequency Induction (LFI), Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF), and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) assessments.
• Lead and contribute to technical deliverables of superior quality utilizing industry software such as CDEGS and PSCAD.
• Assume technical leadership roles on projects, performing detailed reviews and quality assurance to uphold high technical standards.
• Participate in business development activities, collaborating with Client Account Managers to secure new projects and opportunities.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers to expand the firm's capability in earthing and electromagnetic studies.
• Perform fieldwork including site inspections, soil resistivity testing, current injection testing, and EMF/EMI measurements.
• Work cooperatively with Project Managers and Section Leaders to ensure the success of technically and commercially complex projects.
• Establish and maintain strong client relationships in both public and private sector projects.
• While formal team leadership is not mandatory, candidates with leadership experience may support team management tasks such as workload distribution, mentoring, onboarding, and fostering team engagement accounting for approximately 10-15% of the role.

Candidate Requirements

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience performing earthing studies across diverse sectors including substations, transmission systems, rail, water, mining, airports, industrial facilities, and critical infrastructure.
• Familiarity and proficiency with industry-standard earthing and electromagnetic simulation software like CDEGS and PSCAD.
• Excellent skills in technical report writing, communicating complex concepts, and engaging stakeholders effectively.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality, risk management, and achievement of superior technical outcomes.
• Experience mentoring junior engineering staff within a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to work effectively with global delivery teams and contribute collaboratively.
• Flexibility and willingness to conduct field inspections and perform various testing activities as necessary.
• Prior experience or aptitude in team leadership or people management is advantageous but not mandatory, potentially offering involvement in workload planning, team coordination, staff development, and broader leadership activities.
