Process Engineer

About the Role

As a Process Engineer, you will be pivotal in designing, optimizing, and validating manufacturing processes that cater to high-tech industries including semiconductors and cutting-edge manufacturing sectors. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop efficient, safe, and compliant processes that meet client specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of manufacturing processes through activities like mass and energy balance calculations, preparing PFDs and P&IDs, sizing equipment, and process simulations for both new and existing systems.
• Improve manufacturing throughput, yield, safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness by refining processes.
• Support activities from front-end engineering design (FEED) through detailed design, commissioning, and startup phases of advanced manufacturing plants.
• Execute process hazard analyses including HAZOP, LOPA, and ATEX compliance assessments, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
• Review projects to ensure conformity with EU Directives such as PED, ATEX, and Machinery Directives.
• Collaborate closely with teams from mechanical, electrical, controls, and project management disciplines to deliver integrated engineering results.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation including specifications, design reports, operation manuals, and validation protocols.
• Interface directly with clients to capture requirements, present engineering solutions, and assist decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide troubleshooting support during construction and commissioning phases.
• Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives and help establish best practices within the Advanced Manufacturing group.

Candidate Profile

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in process engineering within advanced manufacturing, industrial sectors, or high-tech domains.
• Proficient with process design software such as Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong knowledge of process safety principles, risk assessment techniques, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple project priorities simultaneously.
• Experience with plant commissioning, start-up processes, and operational troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with both clients and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with sectors such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical, biotech, battery manufacturing, or high-purity/cleanroom environments.
• Understanding of sustainability practices including energy efficiency and decarbonization strategies relevant to manufacturing.
• Experience with digital engineering tools, data analytics, or automation and controls integration.
• Status as a Chartered Engineer or progress towards professional accreditation is advantageous.
