Job Summary

The Field Service Engineer will oversee end-to-end outage management at an assigned power plant, aiming to deliver cost-effective, high-quality services that enhance long-term asset reliability, optimize resources, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support Project Manager by planning outage strategies, including defining scope, resource allocation, manpower needs, spare parts, and quality assurance plans up to 18 months in advance.
  • Conduct pre-outage technical studies covering equipment history, OEM recommendations, layout, interconnections, failure analysis, and operating conditions to ensure precise planning and execution.
  • Assist outage execution by tracking daily progress, coordinating stakeholders and contractors, ensuring compliance with work control procedures, health, safety, security, environmental (HSSE) standards, and quality requirements.
  • Facilitate issuance of spare parts, consumables, tools, work authorizations, and permits before execution begins to guarantee regulatory and safety compliance.
  • Update schedules daily in response to project progress, plant conditions, and adjustments by work units to ensure timely outage completion.
  • Participate in daily coordination meetings to oversee planning, execution robustness, and timely resolution of issues.
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports summarizing performance against objectives for management and stakeholders, highlighting any critical escalations and corrective actions.
  • Organize quality control inspections per quality plan and equipment acceptance criteria.
  • Support final calibration and checks by Maintenance, Operations, and Technical teams to ensure client satisfaction and acceptance following authority guidelines.
  • Assist in compiling post-outage reports detailing preparation, execution, job statistics, scope vs. achieved goals, major challenges and corrective measures, best practices, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Act as a technical expert on critical equipment such as Gas Turbines and Steam Turbines, sharing knowledge with the team, providing insights, and engaging with vendors and clients.
  • Stay informed of the latest technological developments, new equipment designs, and industry best practices to evaluate applicability within the organization.
  • Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and operating instructions to maintain consistent work standards.
  • Adhere to health, safety, security, and environmental protocols to guarantee safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the organization.

Communication and Collaboration

Collaborate internally with Field Services GM, Project Manager, Planning Manager, plant Maintenance teams, Performance Assurance, and Supply Chain departments. Externally, build relationships with vendors and consultants.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in operations and maintenance within large power plants.
  • Experience managing at least one outage involving Steam or Gas Turbines is required; experience with OEM outage execution is advantageous.
