Mechanical Technician

Job Overview

As a Mechanical Technician specializing in steam and gas systems, you will be responsible for the safe installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy rotating machinery primarily used in power generation. You will collaborate closely with Supervisors, HSE staff, and Operations personnel to achieve operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret schematic drawings and technical manuals to determine correct procedures for work.
• Dismantle and reassemble machinery and equipment using various hand, power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
• Handle machinery and components, relocating them as necessary with hoists, cranes, chain falls, and trucks.
• Align machinery using hoists, squares, micrometers, dial indicators, or laser alignment tools based on expert guidance.
• Conduct inspections of machines and components using precise measuring instruments such as micrometers, rulers, and calipers.
• Maintain control over tools, equipment, and supplies required for tasks.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or leadership.

Internal and External Communication

• Work in close coordination with Outage Managers, Field Service Engineers, and Supervisors.
• Establish productive working relationships with plant crews and contractors externally.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in a Technical Field; preference given to candidates with Gas Turbine Systems Technician certification.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in maintaining, dismantling, and installing industrial machinery and equipment like pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines.
• Practical experience with tooling usage and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of current technologies and innovations in the field.
• Familiarity with applicable legal, quality, and HSSE regulations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance practices, and equipment.
• Willingness to travel and work internationally, including in challenging and hardship environments, and adapt to shift-based work schedules.
