Field Service Engineer - Semiconductor Industry

Overview

We are recruiting for multiple Field Service Engineers to join a reputable company supporting semiconductor manufacturing in North Kildare. These permanent, full-time roles are based onsite at one of Europe's leading semiconductor facilities in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. Candidates will engage with a technically advanced engineering environment alongside electronic, automation, mechanical, and electrical experts, working on cutting-edge semiconductor equipment within a cleanroom setting.

Selected engineers will be responsible for installing, qualifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing semiconductor capital equipment. International travel to locations such as the USA or Taiwan is expected for OEM training and certification. A valid driving license is required due to possible company transportation arrangements during overseas assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, commission, and qualify semiconductor manufacturing machinery complying with OEM standards and cleanroom protocols.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, calibration, and servicing to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
• Diagnose complex faults related to electrical, mechanical, automation, and process aspects of semiconductor equipment.
• Execute corrective maintenance, perform root cause analysis, and develop permanent technical fixes.
• Participate in equipment upgrades, retrofits, and ongoing improvement projects within the manufacturing plant.
• Collaborate with process, equipment, and production engineers to enhance equipment functionality and yields.
• Maintain thorough service documentation, maintenance logs, and technical reports adhering to quality and compliance standards.
• Strictly follow environmental health & safety, cleanroom, and contamination control guidelines.
• Deliver technical assistance and operational guidance to clients and internal teams as needed.
• Take part in on-call and escalation duties to support essential manufacturing operations.
• Coordinate with global engineering and technical teams to resolve advanced issues.
• Manage spare parts inventory to ensure critical component availability for servicing.
• Identify and recommend enhancements for equipment reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Support adherence to ISO, GMP, and semiconductor manufacturing standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• At minimum, a Level 7 qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Alternatively, a Level 6 trade qualification with considerable semiconductor, manufacturing, or equipment maintenance experience will be considered.
• Previous work experience in semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, automation, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or high-tech manufacturing is advantageous.
• Recent engineering graduates with strong technical skills and a keen interest in semiconductor technology are encouraged to apply.
• Proven troubleshooting capabilities in electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with precision instruments, diagnostic equipment, test fixtures, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of cleanroom practices and high-volume manufacturing environments is beneficial.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to function both independently and as part of a high-achieving engineering team.
• Competency with Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.

Additional Information

Candidates must have either an EU passport or valid Stamp 4 permission due to the international travel requirements associated with the role. A full driving license (Irish, UK, EU, or International) is mandatory as company transportation may be provided during overseas training.
