Overview
We seek an Estimator to support pricing and quotation tasks for a printing operation located in Berks County, Pennsylvania. The role centers on creating dependable cost estimates by examining job specifics, evaluating production requirements, and delivering pricing proposals that enable solid business decisions. Candidates should demonstrate strong numerical skills, keen attention to detail, and the discernment to balance customer expectations with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze job requests, production specs, and related documents to generate accurate cost projections.
- Follow up to obtain missing information necessary for precise pricing.
- Calculate anticipated costs including labor, materials, production timelines, and outsourced services using proprietary estimating tools and data.
- Collect and compare supplier prices for paper, dies, finishing services, and other purchased items.
- Evaluate production alternatives to determine if work should be performed in-house or outsourced.
- Prepare formal price quotations ensuring alignment with margin goals and job criteria.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, including specs, calculations, and vendor price quotes.
- Adjust estimates when project scope, quantities, schedule, or materials change.
- Compare actual job costs with estimates and provide feedback to refine future pricing accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in estimating, manufacturing, printing, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency with cost data, calculations, percentages, and pricing evaluations.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail during estimate preparation and record-keeping.
- Effective time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple requests and deadlines.
- Clear communication skills to collaborate with customers, sales teams, and vendors.
- Competency in Microsoft Office and general business software for data entry and maintaining records.
- Capacity to work autonomously and participate in cross-functional team discussions.
- Preferred background includes print production, product costing, and invoice-related support functions.
