Job description

Overview

We are seeking a commercially driven Finance Director for a well-established private company based in Manchester. This is a permanent role offering a salary between £90,000 and £110,000 plus a discretionary bonus. The position features hybrid working with an expectation of three days in office per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and cultivate the finance department while continuously evolving its capabilities.
  • Take full responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial planning activities.
  • Serve as a strategic commercial advisor to the Senior Leadership Team by providing insightful financial analysis and guidance.
  • Drive initiatives to automate and enhance finance operations and processes.
  • Modernize management reporting and financial information systems.
  • Enhance financial controls and governance frameworks.
  • Identify and implement strategies to increase operational efficiency, improve profit margins and boost overall profitability.
  • Evaluate and adjust the finance team structure for optimal performance.
  • Champion the advancement of financial systems and technological tools.
  • Adopt a proactive, hands-on leadership style, engaging in detail as needed.

Candidate Profile

  • Experienced senior finance leader, preferably within SME or mid-market sectors.
  • Possesses strong commercial insight and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proven expertise in finance function transformation and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience with finance automation, system enhancements, and reporting improvements.
  • Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and management information systems.
  • Confident in influencing and challenging senior stakeholders.
  • Practical and ready to get involved at an operational level.
  • Preferably holds ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualifications; however, candidates with equivalent experience (QBE) will be considered.
  • Industry experience in manufacturing, distribution, engineering, construction, or project-oriented environments is a plus but not mandatory.
