Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of assigned equipment such as Trymax and Axcelis tools, ensuring optimal uptime and performance.
  • Maintain and enhance equipment metrics including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
  • Implement and oversee equipment health monitoring systems, utilizing tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC), Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), fault codes, and alarms.
  • Conduct daily reviews of tool performance, documenting issues, corrective actions, and recovery strategies.
  • Plan, execute, and optimize preventive maintenance (PM) schedules based on OEM guidelines and fabrication strategies.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems across electrical, mechanical, vacuum, radio frequency (RF), gas delivery, and software components.
  • Lead root cause analyses for persistent or critical problems using structured frameworks such as 8D, Fishbone diagrams, and 5-Why techniques.
  • Coordinate with vendor field service engineers and contractors during major maintenance, upgrades, and equipment rebuilds.
  • Collaborate with process engineering teams to ensure equipment supports critical parameters including critical dimension (CD), profile, uniformity, selectivity, and defectivity standards.
  • Analyze data from tool logs, SPC charts, metrology, and wafer mapping to correlate equipment status with yield and performance outcomes.
  • Support process qualifications, equipment chamber swaps, hardware adjustments, and recipe releases.
  • Maintain and implement chamber matching protocols to ensure consistency.
  • Identify and implement improvements aimed at boosting uptime, extending parts lifespan, and minimizing operating expenses.
  • Optimize consumption of consumables and spare parts inventory, including buffer stock management, repair strategies, and refurbishment plans.
  • Participate in or lead continuous improvement initiatives such as CIP, Lean, and Six Sigma projects targeting productivity and quality enhancements.
  • Support capacity expansion efforts involving chamber additions, throughput enhancements, and software upgrades.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance guides, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Ensure all service events, alarms, interventions, and changes are thoroughly recorded in Equipment History Systems or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to equipment technicians, junior engineers, and shift staff.
  • Adhere to change management processes regarding hardware, software, and recipe modifications.
  • Comply with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations, company safety protocols, and cleanroom requirements.
  • Support safety audits, risk assessments, lockout/tagout procedures, particularly for gas, chemical, RF, and high voltage systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality management systems such as ISO and automotive standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of pertinent experience in equipment or field service roles within the semiconductor industry.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Trymax, Axcelis, Gasonic, or Mattson equipment.
  • Self-motivated and flexible mindset with strong capacity to learn quickly and work autonomously.
  • Analytical thinker with a detail-oriented approach to identifying and solving problems creatively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of analytical and problem-solving methodologies including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and structured problem solving techniques like 8D.
