Senior Technical Support Engineer - Compression

Overview

Join Siemens Energy as a Senior Technical Support Engineer specializing in compression technologies, based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. This role involves leading root cause investigations for major clients such as Aramco, ADNOC, and Qatar Gas, while serving as their trusted technical advisor. You'll also mentor junior engineers and facilitate the transfer of critical field knowledge across diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the main technical liaison for key Middle Eastern clients, overseeing all compression-related issues.
• Lead intricate troubleshooting and root cause analyses using structured methods like FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, Kepner-Tregoe, and the 5 Whys to address critical compressor and ancillary system challenges.
• Manage collaboration across cross-functional and multi-regional teams, ensuring smooth and efficient communication between client sites, Product Integrity, and Core Technology groups.
• Support Sales, Bid Management, and Service teams as a regional expert by contributing technical insights for proposals, service strategies, and client interactions.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation such as service reports, maintenance logs, method statements, and equipment records to ensure continuity.
• Develop field expertise by training junior service engineers and client staff on regular maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Over 15 years of comprehensive experience in rotating equipment design, testing, controls development, commissioning, maintenance, and onsite troubleshooting.
• Proven leadership in root cause analysis with practical use of methodologies including FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, Kepner-Tregoe, and 5 Whys.
• Extensive knowledge of rotating equipment parts such as dry gas seals, compressors, couplings, bearings, plus experience in vibration monitoring and performance testing.
• Hands-on skills in instrumentation and controls validation through involvement in startups, overhauls, and precise measurement activities.
• Excellent communication abilities to clearly convey technical information to technically diverse audiences in fluent English.
• Ability and readiness to travel around 30% locally and regionally, work flexible hours under demanding field conditions, and adapt to urgent client needs.
