DXC Technology's Insurance Software and Business Process Services (ISB) division collaborates with global insurers to modernize and optimize their core systems. Leveraging deep sector expertise, proven software platforms, and cutting-edge AI-driven tools, ISB serves Life & Annuity, Property & Casualty, and Specialty insurance sectors, focusing on policy administration, claims, billing, analytics, and digital engagement.

Role Overview

The Eligibility Case Manager position is based in Brisbane, Queensland, and entails the initial evaluation, decision-making, and processing of workers’ compensation claims under a self-insured framework for Queensland. This role requires making precise and expedited eligibility rulings according to relevant legislation, either approving or declining claims. For accepted claims, this role verifies and approves the calculation of Pre-Injury Average Weekly Earnings (PIAWE) and the associated Weekly Compensation before passing the case to a dedicated Case Manager for further administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new workers' compensation claims for legitimacy as per State laws, regulations, and self-insurer standards.
  • Perform detailed investigations on liability-unclear claims by collecting evidence, reviewing medical documents, consulting with involved parties, and, if necessary, arranging independent evaluations.
  • Confirm and authorize the initial PIAWE and Weekly Compensation figures calculated by specialists.
  • Manage the transfer of accepted claims to ongoing Case Managers, ensuring all pertinent details and background are conveyed efficiently.
  • Collaborate with payroll departments to validate earnings data and ensure compensation accuracy.
  • Respond promptly and sensitively to injured employees’ queries about eligibility and claim statuses during early claim phases.
  • Communicate claim outcomes professionally, clearly, and empathetically to claimants, employers, and other involved parties.
  • Deliver high-quality service fostering trust and openness.
  • Adhere strictly to all applicable workers’ compensation laws, self-insurance prerequisites, and company policies.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date claims documentation and notes within the Assure system to support decisions and compliance requirements.
  • Identify claim-related risks and work collaboratively on mitigation approaches.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team culture promoting open communication, shared learning, and collective accountability.
  • Share expertise to support team education and uniform claims decision-making.
  • Work cooperatively with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless claim service delivery.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in workers’ compensation case management, ideally within self-insured environments.
  • Proven track record assessing claim eligibility and determining responsibility in line with legislation and internal protocols.
  • Experience approving PIAWE and Weekly Compensation calculations.
  • Competence in investigating claims by gathering and analyzing evidence to make informed liability decisions.
  • Background collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including case managers, payroll, and legal advisors.
  • Qualification or certification in health or business-related fields is highly desirable.

Essential Skills

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability to interpret complex data and provide fact-based decisions.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and precision in documentation and decision-making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills capable of conveying complex information clearly and empathetically.
  • Strong interpersonal aptitude to influence and engage with all organizational levels effectively.
  • Organizational and time management skills with the capability to handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proficient user of the Microsoft Office software suite.

Culture and Benefits

  • Access to extensive onboarding and ongoing development resources, including DXC University.
  • Employee referral incentives for introducing family and friends to DXC.
  • Flexible leave options, such as purchased leave, to support work-life balance.
  • Volunteer leave for charitable and emergency services activities.
  • Employee Assistance Program available for employees and families.
  • Additional benefits like novated vehicle leasing, discounted health insurance, paid parental leave, and various employee discounts.
