Role Overview

We seek a skilled EHS Officer to join our Auckland team on a part-time basis (three days weekly). Reporting to the Pacific EHSQ team, this role involves strengthening safety, quality, and environmental standards for our New Zealand operations. You will influence compliance, lead continuous improvements, and contribute to cultivating a robust safety culture. The position offers diverse exposure to multiple business areas and projects, presenting significant professional advancement opportunities within a global firm.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain Johnson Controls' Integrated Business Management System for Environment, Health, Safety and Quality (EHSQ).
• Carry out routine audits and assessments to ensure adherence to company systems.
• Organize and perform site audits, inspections, and compliance evaluations.
• Support EHSQ reporting and track performance metrics across the Pacific region.
• Manage non-conformance reports and promote continuous improvement efforts.
• Lead quality assurance processes and monitor compliance with established procedures.
• Conduct EHSQ and compliance training for employees and relevant stakeholders.
• Assist incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive measures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality laws.
• Perform risk assessments and prepare safe work method statements.
• Coordinate Health & Safety Committee meetings and communicate resolutions to key parties.
• Offer expert guidance on health, safety, environmental, welfare, and quality issues.
• Manage Return to Work programs and oversee injury management.
• Advocate best practices and promote a proactive culture aligned with our Zero Harm commitment.

Candidate Profile

• Possess qualifications in Quality Assurance or a related field (desired).
• Hold at least a Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety or an equivalent credential.
• Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
• Have between three to five years of relevant experience in heavy manufacturing, industrial, or similar sectors.
• Preferably hold training or certification in incident investigation.
• Demonstrate solid knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and quality management systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint platform.
• Exhibit strong communication abilities, stakeholder engagement skills, and influencing capabilities.
• Showcase a proactive mindset and enthusiasm for fostering safe, efficient work environments.

Compliance Requirements

• Must have full legal authorization to work in New Zealand.
• Successful completion of pre-employment medical exam, criminal background check, and drug and alcohol testing is mandatory.
