Mechanical Senior Supervisor

Overview

This role requires a highly experienced mechanical technician and supervisor skilled in detailed maintenance operations on Typhoon aircraft and their components. The candidate must possess a solid understanding of the approved technical procedures and be capable of supervising maintenance personnel within strict regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Expertly analyze and diagnose faults in aircraft systems, equipment, and assemblies, following diagnostic protocols and collaborating effectively with team members. Mentor junior personnel in a dynamic, multi-faceted work environment.
• Execute intricate maintenance, inspection, and supervision tasks on Typhoon aircraft and components, ensuring all work aligns precisely with approved technical packages. Manage fault resolution and configuration control diligently.
• Complete assigned maintenance and diagnostic duties involving aircraft ground handling, flight servicing, role transitions, component removal, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault fixing, replacements, and functional/system tests as necessary.
• Exhibit adaptability and initiative in fulfilling the role's responsibilities and respond appropriately to supervisory direction.
• Maintain personal authorizations required for working on aircraft or related components.
• Ensure maintenance activities are timely and escalate issues when necessary.
• Conduct fault evaluations and generate ad hoc work orders for emergent defects discovered during maintenance.
• Lead and supervise team efforts to maintain schedules and report any impacts to the wider program, escalating problems as needed.
• Verify team members' competence and authorization levels for assigned maintenance tasks.
• Carry out additional support duties within the maintenance facility to uphold compliance with the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and Functionally Mandated Procedures, including oversight checks and management of tooling and test equipment.
• Provide leadership and development guidance to team members through formal assessments like Performance Development Reviews (PDRs), endorse training including on-the-job training, and communicate complex information effectively.
• Independently scope and perform critical inspections.
• Maintain a personal logbook to demonstrate proficiency and recent training completion; endorse other personnel’s logbooks within defined trade boundaries.
• If designated, perform authorizations and task competency approvals and review Part 145 license applications prior to submission.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of an engineering apprenticeship, preferably in Aeronautical Engineering or a military equivalent.
• Minimum academic credential of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or an equivalent qualification.
• Aircraft platform training specific to the aircraft requirements.
• Extensive product knowledge and competence in the assigned technical area.
• Understanding of team integration to achieve broader objectives and commitment to continuous process improvement.
• Proven leadership capabilities with at least 2 years of technician-level experience before advancing to a supervisory role. Evidence of current skills and authorities maintained via a comprehensive logbook.
• Hands-on experience and proficiency in aviation safety standards and safe operating procedures.
• Familiarity with Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures Management.
• Experience or training in Performance Development Reviews (PDR).
• Strict adherence to risk assessments and safety, health, and environmental (SHE) policies.
• Specific training including Typhoon Composite Flight Servicing, Typhoon Mechanical Trade ‘Q’ Course, Leadership Foundation, Human Factors Standard Course, E&PW Awareness, and ITAR Awareness.
